2012 Honda FourTrax Rancher TRX420TM Review

If you have the chores, we have the tools. 5-speed semi-automatic transmission available in manual or electric shift (ESP).

Over the years, the ready-and-willing FourTrax® Rancher® has proven over and over again to be an exceptionally dependable riding partner. Whether the day calls for hard work or loads of fun, these hard-working machines simply get the job done thanks to a torque-laden liquid-cooled fuel-injected 420cc engine and more. You can choose between a manual-shift FourTrax Rancher or one with Honda's renowned Electric Shift Program (ESP®) to suit your specific riding needs.

There’s more than one way to use a Rancher. And there’s more than one Rancher you can use. In fact, we’ve designed six different Rancher models to choose from, with a slew of features that help make the task at hand – or the trail in front of you – easier to tackle. Features like 2WD or 4WD models. Programmed Fuel Injection. Electric Power Steering. TraxLok, which allows you to easily shift between two- and four-wheel-drive, giving you easy steering when you want it, and extra useable traction when you need it. And there are even two transmission types that you can choose: semi-automatic, or our push-button Electric Shift Program.

But don’t forget what could be the most valuable Rancher features of all: Honda’s legendary reliability and dependability. Add it all up, and it’s easy to see why the Ranchers are America’s best-selling ATVs.

Important Safety Information Recommended for riders 16 years of age and older. Honda recommends that all ATV riders take a training course and read their owner’s manual thoroughly.

Muscle at the core.
Every Rancher is built to do one thing: never stop working. And it all starts with a 420cc fuel-injected engine that delivers all the power and torque you need.

See what makes the Ranchers tick.
Every Honda Rancher features a rugged, single-cylinder engine that’s been longitudinally mounted in the chassis. Why? Because our engineers wanted to eliminate as many unnecessary right-angle powertrain directional changes as possible. That way, a higher percentage of power produced by the engine makes it to the ground, which is precisely where you need it most. It’s the kind of thinking that you can only get from Honda.
